Friends, it’s getting crappy out there. I’m a single man and sometimes when the weather sucks, you just want a good cuddle, you know? So I signed up for our new dating service and thought it might be fun to do a little contest to make my experience interesting. Here’s how it’ll work.

That’s it! The winner gets to go out on a date with me and a dating prize pack (3-month membership for RedEye Dating, $50 Lettuce Entertain You gift card, $25 AMC Theatre gift card and 2 tickets to Zanies Comedy Club). Also, there might be that “deeply emotional soulmate connection” thing.

Sound good? Start submitting dates!

If you need contest rules because you’re a boring person, you can find those here.

Here’s a bunch of it.

Freddie Gibbs – Cold Day In Hell by LiftedResearchGroup

Freddie Gibbs – Cold Day in Hell

Gangster Gibbs is back! The 8th best thing to come out of Gary, Indiana (BTW, the first 7 are the Jackson kids not named Latoya) and newest CTE signee is back with more certified hardcore. Features from Alley Boy, Freeway, 2 Chainz, and CTE head honcho Young Jeezy are solid but not overpowering. Freddie has always been able to rap his a$$ off, and this tape is a quality edition to his oeuvre.

L.E.P Bogus Boys – Now or Neva

Count and Moonie, better known at the L.E.P (Low End Professionals) Bogus Boys, continued a now-annual tradition of releasing new music on Halloween. This tape is pretty gangster as well, with features from everyone from Meek Mill to Lupe Freakin’ Fiasco. It’s great to see these guys drop another consistent release. Ride around with this one.

A$AP Rocky – LiveLoveA$AP

The point guard for the newest movement out of Harlem gets some dreamy but dope proudction from Clams Ca$ino, DJ Burn One and his own in-house dude A$AP Ty Beats. Listen to: Peso, Wassup, Kissin’ Pink. D/L that ish heeeeeeeeeeeeere

Hope you dig it!

Well, damn.

According to Finke-o-tron, Fox is bringing back In Living Color for a few midseason specials, with a promise for a full series reboot if the ratings are good next year. I’m expecting the usual “OH THEY’RE OUT OF IDEAS IN HOLLYWOOD HARRUMPH” stuff but I’m actually pretty excited to see
what happens. I’d like to take this time to showcase some of my favorite sketches from the original series.

Men on Film

Vera De Milo

Homey the Clown

Fire Marshal Bill

Calhoun Tubbs

And for the hell of it: A bunch of parody songs they did…HAHAHAHAA

Vanilla Ice

Crystal Waters

Sir Mix-A-Lot

MC Hammer

Michael Jackson

Press play and let it ride while you read.

The November of Dressing Nicely is almost upon us, and Chicago gents, it’s time to get your sh*t together.

If this is your first time hearing about this, here’s a little backstory: Last year, a guy from LA came into the office last year to take some meetings with my bosses. He was the best-dressed dude I’ve seen in years.

Upon seeing him, the women in my office had a response similar to this:

Upon finding out the dude was from LA, a co-worker stated, “Oh of course, no guy who lives in Chicago would look like that.” The basic emphasis was: Guys in Chicago usually don’t care what they look like.

So I did. Every single day for the month of November, I dressed to my absolute best effort. No hoodies and “it’s Friday, I’m hungover” outfits. And I wasn’t the only one. A large collective of gents joined up. I posted pics everyday in a gallery for the work blog and this year we’ll be doing the same. I’ve heard from some interested parties, but I’d like to use this opportunity to call out the rest of you. Do you have more pocket squares than numbers in your phone? Did a street style blogger get hit by a car trying to cross the street to get your pic? Then you belong in this gallery.

Here’s how it works:

Starting Tuesday, November 1st:

  • Dress your ass off every work day.
  • Either take a pic of your ‘fit or have someone take it of you.
  • Send the pic to me via e-mail with your name/age by 3pm each day. (You can include details of brands/labels, but it’s not necessary)
  • Act humble when people tell you how good you look in the gallery.
  • Repeat.

You don’t have to participate the whole month, but this year I’m locking down prizes for the gents who go the whole time. If you’re a little hesitant about your style, start here. Follow those rules and you’ll be amazing, no BS.

ALSO: Thanks to the sexy folks at Jbar, we’re partnering up for a #NoDNlaunch party/no real reason other than to do it soiree jawn on Friday November 4th from 9-11. Come say hey.

Here’s some new music you should check out…I even broke it up by genre because I love you so much.

  • Dead Sara – “Weatherman”: LA four-piece Dead Sara is really refreshing. Someone more talented than I could give you a genre to compare them to, but since rock isn’t really selling anymore, isn’t it all “indie”? Anyhoo, listen.

Find more Dead Sara here.

“DJ V- DUB: The Best of King Louie”

YAY MIXTAPES! This is the first time some of you are going to bear witness to Chicago rap upstart King Louie. David Drake over at Somanyshrimp did a great interview with him, but trust that this guy has a serious buzz right now. How serious, you may ask? I heard some of his older stuff and wasn’t impressed. I relayed that fact to Naledge and AB from FSD. Andrew reacted like I punched his grandmother and the next day, I received a CUSTOM tape featuring Louie’s best raps. That’s a heavy co-sign, trust. I will gladly admit that I was wrong. Get caught up now.

Hope you enjoy! Let me know what you think.

WITH A Q!)

Anyway, it was a blast seeing folks I hadn’t seen in awhile and while the booze of choice for the evening wasn’t my personal cup of tea (although, the strawberry flavor reminded me of Nesquik, which I enjoyed), the party was dope. Here’s some party notes:

  • There were tons of attractive women present: Yeah yeah, it’s probably because Pharrell was there and women want to have his child, but GOOD LORDY WHODIE, there were a lot of Chicago’s finest in the building.
  • George Daniels is a legendary human being: The iconic man-about-town was having more fun than everyone there and he’s old enough to be my dad. I need to step my game up.
  • I’m a nerd: Not like Skateboard P’s group, but more like “Oh, I want to shake his hand and thank him for making “In Search Of….”. I actually said that.
  • Lebanese food is delicious. There wasn’t any, but I’m eating it as I type this and wanted you to know.

Anyhoo, dig the pics. Leave a comment if you were there or if you like music or something.
