Pulp Fiction is considered one of the greatest – and most quotable – films in American Film history. It’s earned Quentin Tarantino an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and helped cement his reputation as one of the finest auteurs in cinema. And now it’s out on Blu-Ray for the first time…
THE GOOD: The Blu-Ray transfer of the film is crystal clear and looked spectacular on my big screen HD television set. You could practically see the relaxer dripping off of Samuel L. Jackson’s Jheri-curls. The disc also includes all the special features that were previously found on the Collector’s Edition Double DVD Set, with 2 additional features, a critics retrospective and new cast interviews. All the features come on a single disc.
THE BAD: It doesn’t have a cool reproduction of the Jack Rabbit Slim’s Menu like in the Collector’s Edition DVD Set, or a booklet. Beyond that, there’s nothing much wrong here unless you’ve already bought every previous version of the film (like I have). If you aren’t a real stickler for image quality and bought the Collector’s Edition, you may want to pass. Then again, it’s not a bad deal at 20 bucks. But it’s even better if it’s FREE.
